Itinerary

We pick you up today to begin your 15-day round journey from Casablanca. First and foremost, we go to the Hassan II Mosque. This mosque is the biggest outside of Mecca. Following this tour, we will leave for Rabat, Morocco's capital. Dinner and an overnight stay in a hotel or riad.

We begin our morning with a visit to the Hassan Tower and the Oudaya Kasbah. Then we go on to Fes. Meknes and Volubilis are on the route. We visit the renowned Bab Mansour gate, the Sahrij Souani basin, and the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum in Meknes, one of Morocco's four royal towns. After lunch, we continue on to Volubilis, the remains of a Roman town from the third century B.C. Some of the ancient mosaics have been very well maintained. We then travel through the Rif Mountains' foothills till we arrive at Fes late in the afternoon. Overnight stay with bed and breakfast.

After a leisurely breakfast, you will stroll around Morocco's oldest city with the assistance of a (local) guide. You will stroll through lively alleyways and tiny streets. The Royal Palace Gate and other cultural and historical sites in Fes will be visited. But there's also the Jewish Quarter, which was the first Mellah constructed in Morocco in the 16th century. The Al Qaraouine University is the region's oldest. And, of course, there are the well-known tanneries. Visit a mosaic cooperative after lunch. Overnight stay with bed and breakfast.

We depart Fes after breakfast to continue our trip. Merzouga is our last stop for the day. We take the road through Midelt and the Ziz valley. We pass through Ifrane, a beautiful mountain village in the Middle Atlas Mountains known as Morocco's Switzerland. You will see the Middle Atlas and High Atlas mountains along the way. We come to a halt in Azrou, a Berber village in the heart of the famous cedar forest. This is where the Berber monkeys can be found. The journey to Midelt continues through the beautiful Atlas hills and mountains and over the fascinating Tiz Ntalghamt pass. As we approach the desert and the city of Errachidia, you will notice how the landscape changes. We then continue our trip through the beautiful Ziz Valley, pausing for panoramic views of Erfoud and Rissani along the route. We arrive at Merzouga in the late afternoon, where you will be greeted with a drink of mint tea before checking into your hotel/Riad for supper and overnight stay.

It's time to go exploring after breakfast. One of the attractions of this 15-day trip from Casablanca is a visit to the desert. We will visit the Gnawa people, who are originally from Sudan, to learn about their music and way of life. We'll also go to a nomadic home where many Berber handicrafts are cheaper than in the major towns. Your dromedary will meet you in the late afternoon for a ride across the beautiful dunes of the Erg Chebbi desert. Of course, an expert guide will accompany you. After seeing the stunning sunset, you will return and be transported by 4 x 4 to our luxury tent camp in the Sahara Desert. You will spend the night here, eat supper, and have a wonderful evening with traditional music and a bonfire.

After a hearty breakfast in the tented camp, leave for Rissani, Tinghir, and the Todra Gorge. This is Morocco's tallest and narrowest canyon. We travel across the Dades Valley after seeing the Todra Gorge. There are magnificent Kasbahs - traditional sand castles - as well as the stunning "monkey toes" rock formations. Overnight stay with supper at a hotel or riad.

After breakfast at the hotel, we continue on to Ouarzazate through the Dades Valley. The Dades Valley path is known as "the road of a thousand kasbahs." It's a lovely path with lots of chances for excellent photos. Today, you will also be able to meet Berber nomads in their caves. We make a pit stop at Kalaat M'gouna, the rose city. Rose water and rose oil may be purchased here. We continue on to Skoura, where we will see the well-preserved Kasbah Ameridil. There is a restaurant with a view of the whole valley where you may eat lunch. We arrive at Ouarzazate, Africa's "Hollywood," after lunch. The studio has artifacts from popular films such as The Mummy, Gladiator, and The Last Temptation of Christ. Dinner and an overnight stay in a hotel or riad.

After breakfast at the hotel, we drive to Asni and Imlil through the magnificent Tizi 'nTichka pass. But first, we stop at Ait Ben Haddou's renowned Kasbah. One of Morocco's last Berber chieftains constructed the biggest Kasbah in the late 19th century. It was a vital station on the commercial routes to Mali's Timbuktu. Many Glaoui family members still reside in the Kasbah today. Following a brief stop at the Kasbah, the trip continues to Asni and Imlil, towns located in the midst of the High Atlas Mountains. Dinner and an overnight stay in a hotel or riad.

After breakfast, you will have time to explore the region and learn about the Berber culture. You may choose to spend a couple hours hiking in the valley. In addition, you will be treated to a breathtaking panorama from North Africa's highest peak. You'll walk to Arumd, a tiny Berber hamlet with a strong culture. You will return to the hotel/Riad in the afternoon. Then you may unwind and reflect on your thoughts from the last few days. Dinner and an overnight stay at a hotel or riad.

We get ready for our trip to Marrakech after breakfast. We pass via the Berber hamlet of Tahnaout and the beautiful Moulay Brahim canyon. There are many photo opportunities along the route. We continue our trip to Marrakech at a relaxed pace. Before settling into the hotel / Riad in Marrakech, we'll visit the Majorelle Gardens. Then you'll have plenty of time to go around the renowned Jemaa El Fna plaza on your own. A diverse band of magicians, storytellers, singers, and snake charmers populate the evocative plaza. Overnight stay with bed and breakfast.

After breakfast, go on an exploration of Marrakech, Morocco's "red city," with a (local) guide. We will take you to the most important historical and cultural sites, such as the Saadian tombs, the palace of El Bahia, the Ben Youssef Coranic School, and the souks. You have free time in the afternoon to explore Marrakech on your own. Overnight stay with bed and breakfast.

We leave after breakfast for the seaside town of Essaouira. You will tour the city on your own after arriving.
You'll see the Skala fortification, the harbor, and the souks. You will also learn about Essaouira's specialty, artisanal processing and carving of Thuya wood. You will stroll through the medina's alleyways and through hundreds of artisans. You go through the Mellah, which is the Jewish headquarters. Alternatively, you may take a breather on the broad, vast, and golden sandy beach. Essaouira is nicknamed as the "City of Winds" because of its fierce winds. Surfers from all over the globe visit this location. Essaouira has been influenced by various cultures, notably the Portuguese colonization, which has had a significant impact on its architecture. It's a tiny town with a fascinating history. It is also known as Morocco's Atlantic Jewel due to its grandeur and distinctive blue doors and washed walls. Overnight stay with bed and breakfast.

We're leaving for Walidia after breakfast today. We travel the scenic coastal route that runs along the Atlantic Ocean. The village is situated between El Jadida and Safi. It features a magnificent 12 km long lagoon that is regarded as one of Morocco's most beautiful lagoons. The mix of the water, sand, and sun produces a light that is a visual feast. You will be able to have lunch after seeing the ruins of the Kasbah. We'll leave for El Jadida after lunch. Stay at El Jadida for the night.

El Jadida is a charming port on the Atlantic coast. It was constructed as a fortified settlement in the early 16th century. The castle and its bastions are examples of this. The historic center was included on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2004. You are free to tour the city after breakfast. At the afternoon, we leave for Casablanca, where we will spend the night in a hotel/riad on a bed and breakfast basis.
